Artist Statement
I believe that painting functions as an intellectual exploration of the living world. Using a variety of painting materials and techniques, I am able to illuminate several distinct perspectives.

In my abstract paintings, inspiration from old masters to modern masters help me construct active compositions drawing the viewer into complex depths. Significant relationships are created between the dynamic use of color, line, gesture and solid figurative forms and layers.

In my figurative work, I simply enjoy the traditional practice of figurative painting. I feel there is a humanity and empathy in a painting that a photograph can never capture. There is a universal recognition of human expression.
